How to Fix Common GPS Device Issues - iOS Edition

All the troubleshooting steps you need to get you back up and running!

These steps may vary slightly depending on your iOS version

Solution 1: Toggle Your GPS on and off

Turn off your GPS and then back on again. This allows it to look for the location and reestablish a connection.

Solution 2: Toggle Airplane Mode

Turn Airplane mode on for a little bit (5-10 seconds) and switch it back to off. This resets all networks which can help your location accuracy.

Solution 3: Keep the ClockShark App Running

Do not force close or swipe away your app. This completely stops the app and can affect the GPS.

Solution 4: Low Power Mode

Power Saving Mode disables some important functions like networks, background data, and can affect GPS. In order to use the ClockShark app and use the GPS feature, you must disable low power mode.

Solution 5: Restart Your iOS Device

Restart your iOS device and try using the GPS again. You may find that the GPS problem would have fixed itself with a simple restart.

Solution 6: Give the App the Proper Permissions

To check the GPS settings of your phone follow these steps:

  • Go to the settings menu of your device

  • Scroll to ClockShark

  • Under Location, tap "Always"

Solution 7: Enable Precise Location

iOS 14 introduced an app-specific location setting called Precise Location. This is located with the App permissions.

  • Go to the settings menu of your device

  • Scroll to ClockShark

  • Under the permissions, enable "Precise Location

Solution 8: Keep Background App Data Refresh Turned on

This can affect GPS and networking performance. This can be set by going to Settings > ClockShark > Background app refresh.

Solution 9: Reset Network Settings

Similar to toggling Airplane Mode, iOS has a built-in resource to reset network settings on your device. You can do this by navigating to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings > Enter your passcode > Tap Reset Network Settings.

Solution 10: Remove the Phone Case

There have been some cases where your phone’s case can cause an obstruction for the GPS. This is not common and usually means that your GPS receiver is pretty weak.
