How to Clear the ADP Run Timesheet Import Queue

Learn how to quickly fix this error and finish your payroll process!

Use this guide to fix the error during export from ClockShark to ADP: “An open timesheet already exists for this source with the same company code and pay frequency.”

When you export employees’ time from ClockShark into ADP Run, the time is placed into ADP’s timesheet import queue. ADP Run only allows one batch of imported time to sit in the queue at a time for each pay frequency. If there is already an unused batch from a previous export still in ADP, ClockShark cannot send new time data to ADP Run.

How to troubleshoot

This error is caused by the old imported time blocking your new export. You can check:

  • Is the time from a previous export still sitting in ADP Run?
  • Has the previous batch not been used in payroll?
  • Is the ADP Run import timesheets feature cleared before a new export is planned for import?

How to fix

Ensure the ADP Run import timesheets screen is cleared so the new export can be processed successfully from ClockShark to ADP. To do this:

  1. Log in to your ADP Run.
  2. Go to Home > Import Timesheets.  If more than one pay frequency is listed, select the correct Pay Frequency > Previous > Delete All Imported Data.
  3. You’re now all clear to export from ClockShark.

Note: Clearing the timesheet import queue is only required when the imported time is still waiting in ADP, was not used, or is preventing a new export.
