How to Map ADP WFN Earnings Code with ClockShark Tasks
Learn how to support additional sets of ADP Earnings Codes with ClockShark and ADP Workforce Now
This guide explains how to set up your system so that specific jobs or tasks in ClockShark automatically use specific pay codes (Earnings Codes) in ADP.
By default, ClockShark sends all time to a single default set of pay codes in ADP (like Regular, Overtime, etc.). However, sometimes you might need specific tasks to be paid differently or tracked under a different code in ADP. This advanced setup allows you to assign unique ADP Earnings Codes to specific ClockShark tasks.
Requirements
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:
-
Active Integration: You must already have ClockShark connected to ADP Workforce Now, Total Source, or NextGen.
-
Multiple sets of Earnings Codes in ADP: You must have more than one set of ADP Earnings Codes in your ADP account.
-
Pending Tasks: You need to have a few tasks set up in ClockShark.
Understanding how it works
In ClockShark, tracked time is categorized into Regular, Overtime, and Doubletime, based on your account’s overtime settings.
You can think of this as a sorting system for your payroll data:
• If you do not set up specific mapping (refers to the Earnings Code) for a ClockShark task, the system will use your default earnings codes (the ones you set up on the main settings page in your ClockShark web portal).
• If you do map a ClockShark task to a specific Earnings Code, the system will ignore the default earnings code and use the assigned specific earnings code from that task.
• You can assign codes for Regular, Overtime, and Doubletime separately. If you leave one field blank (for example, you map Regular but not Overtime), the system will just use the default earnings codes for the blank one.

To map ClockShark tasks to ADP earnings codes on the ADP Earnings Codes Mapping tab:
-
Go to Admin > Integrations > Manage for ADP.
-
Click View & Edit Mappings.
-
Select the ADP Earnings Codes.
-
Find the ClockShark task you want to assign an Override Earnings Code to.
-
Click the pencil icon next to that task.
- Assign the Earnings Code to a single or multiple time categories (regular, overtime, doubletime). Additionally, you can assign a separate earnings code to each time category for each task.
For example, in ClockShark, the task “A” can use the same earring code for all time categories, such as using the ‘Regular A’ earning code for regular, overtime, and doubletime. Alternatively, task “A” can use seperate earning codes for each category, such as ‘Regular A’ for regular time, ‘Overtime A’ for overtime, and ‘DoubleTime A’ for doubletime. - Click Update Mapping.
